Perhaps you've stopped by the link by accident, perhaps it's due to YOUR love of the sport of Brazilian Jiu JItsu and/or your love for the greatest sport ever to grace our shores, NHB fighting. Often misjudged, thanks to politicians such as certain Senators we all know and love, NHB fighting boasts an impressive safety record and continues to grow each year. From the octagon of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, to the grassroots competitions such as Monte Cox's events, NHB fighting is the sport of the future. ME: well, I am a 24 year old Kent State student, majoring in Advertising. Originally from C-town, my interests are varied, but almost always eventually stem back to MY sport, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. I have trained in many martial arts, gaining a 2nd degree black belt in Kenpo karate many years ago. Since the onset of the UFC however, my studies have revolved more around Tai Boxing, Kali, and of course.. BJJ. I first met 3 time UFC champion and undefeated NHB fighter Royce Gracie at a seminar in 1993. I trained at semenars and from tapes before joining Craig Cramer's Gracie Association. There, and from the Torrance academy, I continue to train and injure myself, as we all do. Amazing what we endure for the love of one sport. :) BJJ is best explained as a mixture of freestyle wrestling, and submission holds. It is designed to allow the smaller man to defeat the much bigger man using technique, and leverage. I am currently training for the Nationals this summer in Michigan.. | |||||||||||||||||||||||
